A Letter from Pastor Mark

Dear Friends,

Nearly two years ago we reorganized staff and the ministries of the church around our mission and our discipleship path.  The mission of the church is “To make new disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of our community and the world.”  For those who are already following Jesus and for those who are coming into the faith, we grow in our discipleship by:

Connecting to God through Jesus Christ
Growing deeper in the faith
Serving in the church and in the community in the name of Jesus Christ
Giving of ourselves and our resources significantly because of our love for Christ

This reorganization has been an exercise in faith.  In many areas the reorganization has helped make us more efficient as we do ministry for the cause of Christ.  However, many times the first time we try something we don’t get it completely right.  Whenever we are engaging in change, we have to be willing to tweak and change things as we go along.  We are learning as we attempt to be more effective for Christ.

Bottom line is that we need to continue to evaluate to see if the changes we are making or have made are producing the intended results.  If new procedures and forms of ministry are not doing what we thought they would do, we need to be flexible and work together to make the necessary adjustments to help us achieve what we originally set out to do.

So, if you are working in a ministry area, we encourage you to talk and share with the Director who oversees your area so that we can work together to help you and resource you so that you are as effective in ministry as possible.  Changes that aren’t working can be modified to make them do what we want them to do.  Conversations about how we can do ministry better and how the staff can better help you do ministry need to be and should be ongoing.

The changes we started two years ago with fulfilling the five prescriptions that came out of our church consultation were never meant to be tasks that would be completed and never re-visited.  This is a process and will always be a process if we want to serve the congregation and the community in the best way possible.  Let’s continue to share and talk with one another about what is working and what isn’t working.  If we do that, it will always lead us to a better place.

We just need to keep trying until we become all that Jesus wants us to be.

In Christ’s Abundant Love,
Pastor Mark
