It is Never to Late to Make a Difference in a Child's Life

Make a Difference in Our Community Through Homecroft Elementary!

The 2014 – 2015 school year is already well underway!  (In fact, the children are already back from fall break.)  If you were in worship September 25 or September 28, you saw and heard how we are partnering with Homecroft Elementary to make a difference.  Part of what we do is financial, and your gifts to FAITH PROMISE help support not only our ministry to Homecroft Elementary but other ministries are supported by FAITH PROMISE as well.

However, our relationship with Homecroft Elementary is more than financial; it is also about making connections and relationships!  Here’s how:

After School Achievers Club – the last two years on Thursday afternoons, we have had between three and eight people go to Homecroft to help children with homework (and just be an adult role model to them).

H.O.P.E Mentor – Perry Township has a program called H.O.P.E. (Help Our Pupils Excel).  Last school year, we had five people who went to Homecroft during the day and volunteered 60 – 90 minutes to help in a class at the direction of the teacher.  The H.O.P.E. Mentor may help a specific student or may be involved with a small group of students, depending on the need of the teacher.

Religious Education – This year, we are sponsoring the fourth and fifth grade Perry Township Religious Education classes through Homecroft.  There is availability for assisting in those classes.  This is our opportunity to directly share the gospel with children.

Technology Club – This new club is starting later in the fall.  If you have a passion for  technology, participating in this area might be just what you are looking for.  (Later in the year, there may just be an opportunity for the children who come to this club to teach adults what they have learned!)

There are many ways that we can help Homecroft Elementary in the coming school year.  If you are interested in positively influencing the next generation, please contact Doug Shinkle at doug@sumc.org or call the church office at 784-9508.
Let’s transform the world by starting with our community!
