CHRISTMAS IN JULY IS HERE!




The ministry of Jubilee Christmas serves families by providing gifts, food, and personal care items on Jubilee Christmas day. The 2015 date is Saturday, December 12. We know that family and children’s needs aren’t only during the holidays so we choose to express Jesus’ love for them throughout the year.

With the input of school social workers, nurses, and staff, we are learning effective ways we can address some of the needs of Perry Township families. By partnering with Homecroft Elementary School, we are able to identify the many daily needs and emergencies that come up.

We all can contribute to making a difference for children, their families, and the school staff. Specific information for hands-on opportunities will be available at the Next Steps table and suggested needs listed on the tag boards.

Discover how you can serve with Jubilee Christmas in December. Host a family, assist the planning team, shop, sort, or set up.

Participate in our partnership with Homecroft. Take tags for donations. Run occasional  emergency errands. Assist school staff with emergency needs.

Discuss the options for both Jubilee Christmas in December and our partnership with   Homecroft. Be involved in our community by stopping at the Next Steps table on Thursdays and Sundays in July. Christmas in July is all about children, sharing Jesus’ love, and making that difference.

Dear Friends,            I am excited about the many things that are happening at Southport UMC this month.   There are many things going on at Southport UMC as we continue in ministry to the Southside of Indianapolis, but I would like to highlight a few opportunities, as well as share some information about changes that are coming this month. First of all, because of storm damage we are getting a new roof. This work will begin after September 8 and will take around a week to complete (weather permitting). ATTENTION HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS

You may or may not know that in the past, Southport United Methodist Church has been able to offer a small scholarship to assist with college expenses.   The scholarship was made possible by some past members of SUMC:   Mary & Riley Lynch. We haven’t been able to offer the scholarship for a few years but are able to do so again. If you are interested or want more information, please contact Pastor Doug in the church office. Application deadline is July 15th, 2019.   A decision will be made at that time so there can be no applications accepted after that date.
