Our Year of Jubilation Continues



“Christmas in July” and your generous donations have helped Perry Township children experience a great start to the school year at Homecroft Elementary. In addition the school staff has needed items and gift cards to use in emergencies throughout the semester. A true example of the spirit of Christmas working at all times.

What’s Next?
Plans are underway for Jubilee Christmas 2015. We will celebrate Jubilee on Saturday,   December 12, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Parents from Perry Township Schools will be our guests so that they can experience the love Jesus has for them and their children. Our time together includes fellowship, delicious refreshments, wrapping clothes, toys and gifts for the children, and a few other surprises. 

Be a Co-Host!
Each Jubilee family relates to a host or co-hosts from Southport. Together they choose what gifts and clothes the children need, shop for the clothes (with our Faith Promise fund covering the cost), and enjoy Jubilee Day wrapping and celebrating the joy that comes from our most precious gift…Jesus.

Share your interest in hosting or co-hosting by contacting Sherry at the church office,   784-9508. If this is a new position for you, you may choose to be paired with an experienced host and relate to your Jubilee family together. All hosts will be invited to attend an orientation and training session where responsibilities will be covered and questions addressed. Date to be announced soon.

Dear Friends,            I am excited about the many things that are happening at Southport UMC this month.   There are many things going on at Southport UMC as we continue in ministry to the Southside of Indianapolis, but I would like to highlight a few opportunities, as well as share some information about changes that are coming this month. First of all, because of storm damage we are getting a new roof. This work will begin after September 8 and will take around a week to complete (weather permitting). Secondly, we will begin signups for Journey Groups this month, and I encourage everyone to take this opportunity to grow in your faith through a small group. ATTENTION HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS

You may or may not know that in the past, Southport United Methodist Church has been able to offer a small scholarship to assist with college expenses.   The scholarship was made possible by some past members of SUMC:   Mary & Riley Lynch. We haven’t been able to offer the scholarship for a few years but are able to do so again. If you are interested or want more information, please contact Pastor Doug in the church office. Application deadline is July 15th, 2019.   A decision will be made at that time so there can be no applications accepted after that date.
