Journey Groups

SEAMLESS - Understanding the Bible as One Complete Story. This study is for those who are seeking or new believers who want to see how the scripture of both the Old and New Testaments weave together and connect. It is also for all who want to see the big picture of Scripture.
It covers the people, places, and promises of the Bible, tying them together into the greater  story of scripture. Participants will gain an overarching understanding of the fundamental layout and meaning of God's Word. Each week of study features key information that ties all of scripture together into the seamless truth of the gospel message and is accompanied by maps, general Bible facts, and word studies.
The study will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday mornings beginning February 7, 2016. The last session will be May 22, 2016.  There is no cost for the needed resource.

DISCIPLES PATH
Are you a disciple of Jesus?  Before you answer that, you might ask, “What does it mean to be a disciple?”  Jesus defined that in two words as He called His first disciples:  Jesus said, “Follow me.”  So in short, a disciple is someone who follows Jesus.  At another time, Jesus said, “Everyone who is fully trained will be like his teacher.”  (Luke 6:40)  So we can also say that a disciple is someone who is continually being trained to be like Jesus.
A new journey group will be starting on Wednesday, February 17 (the Wednesday after Ash Wednesday) that will start at the beginning of discipleship.  It is the first in a series of courses called collectively DISCIPLES PATH.  And coincidentally it is called The Beginning:  First Steps for New Disciples.  However, this study is for ALL disciples (not just beginners).
The group will meet for five Wednesdays starting February 17 at 7:00 p.m.  (This means that it will end before spring break begins.)  We will meet in a large group setting with discussions occurring in smaller groups.
During the study, we will read the Gospel of Mark as well as discuss other thoughts related to being a disciple.
This study, called “Making Disciples,” will be a good companion to the sermon series that will be occurring during the same time period. Cost of the book is $6.
You can sign up for either group through www.sumc.org (go to the section related to Small Groups), at the Guest Services desk or by contacting the church office.
