United Methodist Women



United Methodist Women's Circles will "MAKE IT HAPPEN" this year.  We are women's groups that are focused on the following areas of educating women:  climate justice, maternal and child health, criminalization of people of color, and wealth inequality.  

There will be many opportunities to join the circles throughout the year and be better informed women.  We will be starting our quest for information in our February meetings.  At these meetings we will open our hearts for a "Call to Prayer and Self-Denial" program helping to support our theme. 
Then we will have an opportunity to be more informed by attending a Legislative Day on February 11.  We will meet with several speakers to learn about what is happening in our state to improve conditions for all people.
There will be so much more to come as the year goes on.  Won't you come and join us to help make this a better world as we become Jesus' hands and feet in the world?
    
Meetings are scheduled as follows:
             Anna Circle---3rd Monday of each month---Rosegate Community on Emerson Ave. at   1 pm.     (February 15th)
             Rebekah Circle ----2nd Tuesday of each month---Southport Church at 7 p.m. 
                           ( February 9th)
             Leah Circle-----3rd Tuesday of most months---Southport Church at 6:30 p.m.  
                           (March 15th)

Dear Friends,            I am excited about the many things that are happening at Southport UMC this month.   There are many things going on at Southport UMC as we continue in ministry to the Southside of Indianapolis, but I would like to highlight a few opportunities, as well as share some information about changes that are coming this month. First of all, because of storm damage we are getting a new roof. This work will begin after September 8 and will take around a week to complete (weather permitting). ATTENTION HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS

You may or may not know that in the past, Southport United Methodist Church has been able to offer a small scholarship to assist with college expenses.   The scholarship was made possible by some past members of SUMC:   Mary & Riley Lynch. We haven’t been able to offer the scholarship for a few years but are able to do so again. If you are interested or want more information, please contact Pastor Doug in the church office. Application deadline is July 15th, 2019.   A decision will be made at that time so there can be no applications accepted after that date.
