CHRISTMAS IN JULY
We are blessed by our continuing partnership with Homecroft Elementary and the ways God guides us in ministering with the staff and families of this community. Preparations for “Christmas in July” have begun and we are grateful to the school staff for their input on some of the daily needs of our Perry Township Families.

The Jubilee Team will be at the Next Steps table July 7/10, 14/17, and 21/ 24 to answer  questions and share information about Christmas in July and how you can participate. Tag boards with suggested needs will be available starting June 30 and July 3 with a request that all donated items be returned by July 24 for delivery to Homecroft before the first day of school on the 27th. 

There will be tags for a variety of clothing and miscellaneous items and for gift cards.
There is always a great need for gift cards which allow the school staff to shop for items that are needed in emergency situations. 


COMMUNITY FESTIVAL AND MOVIE NIGHT
Community Festival and Movie Night is Friday, August 5 on the Homecroft campus.  Watch for news and updates on the many ways we will serve, support, and fellowship with the children and families of our community that evening. Requested donations in support of the Festival will be listed near the Christmas in July area in the Gathering Place.

Dear Friends,            I am excited about the many things that are happening at Southport UMC this month.   There are many things going on at Southport UMC as we continue in ministry to the Southside of Indianapolis, but I would like to highlight a few opportunities, as well as share some information about changes that are coming this month. First of all, because of storm damage we are getting a new roof. This work will begin after September 8 and will take around a week to complete (weather permitting). Secondly, we will begin signups for Journey Groups this month, and I encourage everyone to take this opportunity to grow in your faith through a small group. ATTENTION HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS

You may or may not know that in the past, Southport United Methodist Church has been able to offer a small scholarship to assist with college expenses.   The scholarship was made possible by some past members of SUMC:   Mary & Riley Lynch. We haven’t been able to offer the scholarship for a few years but are able to do so again. If you are interested or want more information, please contact Pastor Doug in the church office. Application deadline is July 15th, 2019.   A decision will be made at that time so there can be no applications accepted after that date.
