HOMECROFT MINISTRY

Ministry to Homecroft Elementary children, families and staff is only one of our outreach  ministries that focuses on “sharing God’s love and grace through Jesus Christ in our everyday 24x7 lives.”  (By the way, that is the vision for Southport UMC.)
With school back in session soon, it is time to think about how we all can partner with  Homecroft in their mission to have an impact on their community which by the way, is very similar to our mission (to have a transforming impact on the community in the name of Jesus Christ).

Here are some ways that we are currently involved at Homecroft.  If you would be interested in serving the children and families of our community at Homecroft through one of these ways (or in a new way), please contact the church office.
· After School Achievers club:  Tuesday and Thursday (you don’t have to serve both days) from 3:45 – 4:30.  We help children with their homework but also simply build relationships with them.
· H.O.P.E. Mentor – HOPE stands for Help Our Pupils Excel and is a Perry Township  program where mentors go into a teacher’s classroom during the day for 60 – 90 minutes and assist the teacher as needed, usually by helping one, two or a small group of children.
· Christian Religious Education – through Perry Township Religious Education Association, we teach 4th and 5th graders Christian principles to help them grow in their faith.  This   occurs on Monday and Tuesday from 3:45 – 4:30 at Homecroft Elementary.
· Community Festival & Movie Night – Friday, August 5 will be the first of what hopefully will be many events where we can partner with Homecroft to have a transforming effect on the community.
· Homecroft to Home Connection – periodically, staff at Homecroft invites families (parents together with their children) to a night where the parents are trained on how to help extend education from Homecroft to the home.

· On occasion, Homecroft may need other behind-the-scenes tasks to be completed that we might be able to help with.

We have great partners in Homecroft Elementary administrators, staff and families.  Together, we can transform our community!  Want to help?
