CHILDREN’S CHURCH



Every Sunday morning, 30 – 40 children ages 2 through 5th grade come to Children’s Church to learn about Jesus.  At 10:00 a.m., we have a group for 2s and 3s, 4s and kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade, and 3rd through 5th grade.   At 11:15 a.m., we have a group for ages 2 through 2nd grade and a separate group for 3rd through 6th grade.

It is very important for the children to have this hour where we can help develop their faith and help them become true followers of Jesus.

How are we able to do this?  Children’s Church happens because we have very faithful adults that have a passion for helping our children follow Jesus.  In an ideal world, we would have 12 adults on each Sunday morning, sharing with our children.

Would you consider being one of these faithful adults, helping our children learn about Jesus?  Maybe this one hour a week is the only time they hear about Jesus during the entire week.  You can be part of that.

Dear Friends,            I am excited about the many things that are happening at Southport UMC this month.   There are many things going on at Southport UMC as we continue in ministry to the Southside of Indianapolis, but I would like to highlight a few opportunities, as well as share some information about changes that are coming this month. First of all, because of storm damage we are getting a new roof. This work will begin after September 8 and will take around a week to complete (weather permitting). ATTENTION HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS

You may or may not know that in the past, Southport United Methodist Church has been able to offer a small scholarship to assist with college expenses.   The scholarship was made possible by some past members of SUMC:   Mary & Riley Lynch. We haven’t been able to offer the scholarship for a few years but are able to do so again. If you are interested or want more information, please contact Pastor Doug in the church office. Application deadline is July 15th, 2019.   A decision will be made at that time so there can be no applications accepted after that date.
