Creation Care


Our Church’s CREATION CARE TEAM has put into place the following opportunities to assist us in being better stewards of God’s creation through RECYCLING.

1. We have bins in the Gathering Place to collect Recyclable items.  Please refer to the posted sign as to what is acceptable to be placed in the bins

2. The Outside bin in the back parking lot is in place and is usually full.  Again please refer to the sign for Recyclable items. This bin may be moved in the future.

3. The following WEBSITE is very informative and we encourage everyone to read the information offered as to what are acceptable items to be Recycled.

4. To cut down on non-recyclable cups for the coffee/tea offered each Sunday, we encourage all to bring travel cups from home to use rather than the non-recyclable cups presently available.

5. We are planning to offer more information in the month of April in celebration of EARTH DAY.

Dear Friends,            I am excited about the many things that are happening at Southport UMC this month.   There are many things going on at Southport UMC as we continue in ministry to the Southside of Indianapolis, but I would like to highlight a few opportunities, as well as share some information about changes that are coming this month. ATTENTION HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS

You may or may not know that in the past, Southport United Methodist Church has been able to offer a small scholarship to assist with college expenses.   The scholarship was made possible by some past members of SUMC:   Mary & Riley Lynch. We haven’t been able to offer the scholarship for a few years but are able to do so again. If you are interested or want more information, please contact Pastor Doug in the church office. Application deadline is July 15th, 2019.   A decision will be made at that time so there can be no applications accepted after that date.
