YOUTH NEWS (FOR THE ENTIRE FAMILY)


A lot of times we talk about youth or student ministry.  But with our emphasis on families, everyone can read this and find something to participate in.

Saturday, March 10:  ALL  ARE WELCOME to join a work team that will be going to Camp Indicoso (an United Methodist Church camp) to do some work to help the camp get ready for campers coming this summer.  Meet at the church at 7:30 a.m.  Returning to the church by  6:00 p.m.  Please sign up by March 4th in the Gathering Place or by contacting the church office. 

Sunday, March 18:  ALL ARE WELCOME to go as a group to the showing of a new film called “I Can Only Imagine” based around the life of Bart Millard, the lead for the band MercyMe.  The movie begins at 1:45 p.m.  After the movie, we will all be returning to Southport UMC for a meal and discussions about the movie.  Be watching for more information.

BECAUSE OF THE SPECIAL TIME OF THIS ACTIVITY, THERE WILL BE NO YOUTH GROUP THAT EVENING.

Youth Group will NOT meet Sunday evening April 1.  Spend time that day celebrating the resurrection of our Lord and Savior with your family!

Dear Friends,            I am excited about the many things that are happening at Southport UMC this month.   There are many things going on at Southport UMC as we continue in ministry to the Southside of Indianapolis, but I would like to highlight a few opportunities, as well as share some information about changes that are coming this month. First of all, because of storm damage we are getting a new roof. This work will begin after September 8 and will take around a week to complete (weather permitting). Secondly, we will begin signups for Journey Groups this month, and I encourage everyone to take this opportunity to grow in your faith through a small group. ATTENTION HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS

You may or may not know that in the past, Southport United Methodist Church has been able to offer a small scholarship to assist with college expenses.   The scholarship was made possible by some past members of SUMC:   Mary & Riley Lynch. We haven’t been able to offer the scholarship for a few years but are able to do so again. If you are interested or want more information, please contact Pastor Doug in the church office. Application deadline is July 15th, 2019.   A decision will be made at that time so there can be no applications accepted after that date.
