SEAMLESS


As a disciple of Jesus, we are called to “go on” in our discipleship, meaning continue to go on toward Christlikeness for all of our life.  And to accomplish what Jesus calls each one of us to do, we need to understand God’s story and how our story is part of God’s story. 

We are offering a group starting Sunday, August 26, 2018, that will help us move along in our “journey” toward Christlikeness.  The Bible study is called “Seamless” and will meet for 14 weeks during the 10:00 a.m. hour each Sunday morning.  (Participants can attend either the 8:30 or 11:15 worship services.)

Whether you’ve grown up hearing Bible stories or you’re exploring Scripture for the first time, the full story of the Bible can be overwhelming.  The 66 books may seem disconnected at first glance.  This study by Angie Smith shows us how the whole Bible – from Genesis to Revelation – connects as one beautiful, seamless thread.  (Resources for the study will be provided.)

Dear Friends,            I am excited about the many things that are happening at Southport UMC this month.   There are many things going on at Southport UMC as we continue in ministry to the Southside of Indianapolis, but I would like to highlight a few opportunities, as well as share some information about changes that are coming this month. ATTENTION HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS

You may or may not know that in the past, Southport United Methodist Church has been able to offer a small scholarship to assist with college expenses.   The scholarship was made possible by some past members of SUMC:   Mary & Riley Lynch. We haven’t been able to offer the scholarship for a few years but are able to do so again. If you are interested or want more information, please contact Pastor Doug in the church office. Application deadline is July 15th, 2019.   A decision will be made at that time so there can be no applications accepted after that date.
