Successful Food Drive for 2014



The annual Food Drive and Scouting for Food 2014 was a huge success!!!!  This is due to the combined efforts of Boy Scout Troop 39, Pack 134, United Methodist Women's Lenten Breakfast, and Southport UMC: an awesome team that helped serve and feed the hungry.

     The totals for the Fletcher Place Pantry Food Drive are approximately:
                        1572 items collected
                        389 bags of food
                        Total value of $10,553
     The totals for the Hunger, Inc Food Drive are:
                        130 lbs of food
                        $725.00 money collected

As you can see from the numbers...GOD IS GOOD...much was provided.  We really stepped up this year's effort, and it is all for God's Glory.  THANK YOU!!!!

Just a reminder that the June collection for Hunger, Inc. is May 29 and June 1, and the food items to bring are spaghetti and spaghetti sauce.

If you like to plan ahead, July requests are pancake mix and syrup for July 3 and 6.

ATTENTION HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS

You may or may not know that in the past, Southport United Methodist Church has been able to offer a small scholarship to assist with college expenses.   The scholarship was made possible by some past members of SUMC:   Mary & Riley Lynch. We haven’t been able to offer the scholarship for a few years but are able to do so again. If you are interested or want more information, please contact Pastor Doug in the church office. Application deadline is July 15th, 2019.   A decision will be made at that time so there can be no applications accepted after that date.
