Staff Town Hall Meetings



Wednesday, May 6 and Wednesday, May 13, will be the dates of the Town Hall meetings to present the staff plan for Southport UMC after Pastor Chris’ departure.  A presentation will be made and then there will be a questions and answer period. The meetings will be held in the Gathering Place at 7:00 p.m.

Fall Kairos Weekend Volunteers Soon to be Trained

Since 2012, a significant number of people from SUMC have been involved in Kairos Prison Ministry.  Some have also been or currently are weekend leaders, state officials, and even an international officer. In October and November, there are many opportunities to serve, both inside and outside the prison walls.  Team formation is in the process for three inside facilities where SUMC members serve.  The first is Indiana Women’s Prison, October 3-6, followed a week later by Plainfield Correctional Facility for men, October 10-13.  A third is Rockville Correctional Facility (women) October 31-November 3. There will be a ministry table at church July 11 and 14 as well as August 22 and 25.  Check those out to find all the different ways to serve as well as how to sign up to attend a closing. FOOD COLLECTION FOR APRIL

Thank you for your food donations last month.  This is the report on our contribution to Servant's Heart in Beech Grove, serving Perry Township and Beech Grove families and individuals. It was a pretty busy day (March 9) at Servant's Heart, but fortunately we had about 15 workers, some other volunteers and Roncalli students to staff the pantry and serve the 50 families we had that day. Those families represented 141 family members. In addition, we had five new workers to our team. 263 lbs. of food were donated by the members from Southport United Methodist Church.  If you are interested in serving at Servant's Heart please let the church know.  The donation work time for Southport is usually the 2nd Saturday of the month with April 13th our next work day.
