Staff Town Hall Meetings



Wednesday, May 6 and Wednesday, May 13, will be the dates of the Town Hall meetings to present the staff plan for Southport UMC after Pastor Chris’ departure.  A presentation will be made and then there will be a questions and answer period. The meetings will be held in the Gathering Place at 7:00 p.m.

Imagination Station Happenings

Summer is off to a great start. The children have been enjoying the fun filled summer schedule: Movement Monday- Outside running, jumping   and skipping. Tidal Wave Tuesday- Play day with water, sprinklers, water balloons etc… Worship Wednesday- Mr. Brandon teaches a worship lesson thru gardening. The children also get to sample for snack the things they grown in the worship garden. Trekking Thursday- We like to walk to Southport Park, Dairy Queen, and even Long’s Free Wheelin Friday- The back parking lot transforms into a super highway and the children ride bikes, scooters etc… for a fun filled day. The children that are 2 yearrs and under enjoy the same activities just on a much smaller scale.   Please check out our new playground at the East end of the building, volunteers have been busy putting up playground equipment, spreading mulch, installing fencing and many other things. JOY Travelers Planning Three Trips for 2016

Three trips are in the planning stages for JOY (Just Older Youth) Travelers for 2016.   They   include the Slugger Museum and factory tour in Louisville and lunch at Huber Farms north of New Albany for April 21, The Creation Museum in Petersburg, KY on July 21 (for which travelers may include school-age grandchildren), and Wright-Patterson Air Force Base Museum on in Dayton, OH October 22. Reservations for the first trip will begin January 2.   The deluxe motor coach will leave from Southport Church of the Nazarene at 9 a.m. and return at approximately 5 p.m.   The entire cost for the motor coach, admission to the museum, and lunch is $58.   In order for payments to be made to vendors, the reservation money needs to be received by March 15. (In the event that 50 travelers do not sign up, a full refund will be issued.) A Letter From Pastor Mark-December

Dear Friends, Wow!   It is hard to believe that we have already moved into the Christmas season.    I have been seeing signs of Christmas in stores for weeks, but I try to ignore all that until after   Thanksgiving. With Christmas right around the corner, I want to lift up some of the ways we will be       celebrating the birth of Christ at Southport United Methodist Church: ·   Operation Christmas Transformation:   This is an opportunity to spend less on our celebrations of Christmas and give a birthday present to Jesus using the money we saved by cutting back.   You can make a contribution to this fund or you can buy picture poinsettias for $10 each in honor or memory of a loved one, and the money will go to the Operation Christmas Fund.   All proceeds will be divided equally between the Pastor’s Benevolent Fund to help those in financial need and to the Pastor’s Ministry Fund to help with outreach ministr...
