United Methodist Women



The newest project for United Methodist Women (UMW) is shoeboxes for Christmas for Red Bird Mission.  The paperwork giving directions for these boxes is located at the Guest Services Desk.  Anyone is welcome to help with this project. 

The boxes are due by Sunday, July 16.  They must be transported to Mission U at DePauw  University Saturday, July 22.  The boxes may be turned in any Sunday before the due date by placing them in the Coat Rack hallway. They can be placed in the last cubbie for coats on the left-hand side of that hallway.

 This Summer, UMW sponsors a Mission U activity at DePauw University Saturday, July 22. All are welcome to attend this very informative sampler day from 8:00 a.m.—4:00 p.m. Registration is due by July 15.  We carpool from the church parking lot.  If you are interested please contact the church for more information.

                Issue Study: Climate Justice: A Call to Hope in Action
                Geographic Study: Missionary Conferences of the United Methodist Church in the United States.

The UMW Circles :
Rebekah Circle meets for dinner on July 11 at 6:30 p.m. at MCL Cafeteria at US 31 and Sumner Ave.  All are welcome to attend and get to know our members
                     
Anna Circle does not meet in July and will meet again Monday, August 21 at 1:00 p.m. at Rosegate on Emerson Ave.
                       
Leah Circle does not meet in July as well, but will meet again Tuesday, August 22 at   6:30 p.m. at the church in Room W103. 
                                                        
We will be starting our "Sit and Sew" project of Christmas Stockings for Fletcher Place Community.  No experience necessary just a heart to serve.

ATTENTION HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS

You may or may not know that in the past, Southport United Methodist Church has been able to offer a small scholarship to assist with college expenses.   The scholarship was made possible by some past members of SUMC:   Mary & Riley Lynch. We haven’t been able to offer the scholarship for a few years but are able to do so again. If you are interested or want more information, please contact Pastor Doug in the church office. Application deadline is July 15th, 2019.   A decision will be made at that time so there can be no applications accepted after that date.
