Creation Care Team


The Creation Care Team will be hosting a Next Steps Table on Sunday, April 22 and Thursday, April 26.  We will have the following information available:
· Southport United Methodist Church’s new recycling efforts
· Hand-outs on what is acceptable for our recycling bins located at church
· How we are encouraging everyone to bring their own coffee cups to use at church in order to cut down on the number of non-recyclable paper cups we use at SUMC

The Creation Care team would like to thank all of SUMC as a part of the team by continuing to recycle at SUMC.  We are always wanting our church to love God's creation and respect it by being Earth conscious.   The Indy Green Congregations newsletter for January can be found at:    greencong1@gmail.com    Check out all the opportunities available on this site.  EX:   They are offering workshops on how to work your soil up for the Spring (which I hope comes soon) and other opportunities.  Their next meeting is February on the third Thursday.

ATTENTION HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS

You may or may not know that in the past, Southport United Methodist Church has been able to offer a small scholarship to assist with college expenses.   The scholarship was made possible by some past members of SUMC:   Mary & Riley Lynch. We haven’t been able to offer the scholarship for a few years but are able to do so again. If you are interested or want more information, please contact Pastor Doug in the church office. Application deadline is July 15th, 2019.   A decision will be made at that time so there can be no applications accepted after that date.
