GREETINGS FROM SIERRA LEONE



With much thanks to Ngiika Fatorma, a member of our Southport Church Family, girls in Sierra Leone have beautiful new pieces of clothing. Ngiika’s dream was to provide outfits for as many of these children as possible. She invited women from our church and community to assist in making the clothes and then she traveled to Africa to present the gifts to the girls. Be sure to read Pastor Forbie’s letter of thanksgiving included in this newsletter. Ngiika has shown us how we can be the hands and feet of Jesus as far away as Sierra Leone.

ATTENTION HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS

You may or may not know that in the past, Southport United Methodist Church has been able to offer a small scholarship to assist with college expenses.   The scholarship was made possible by some past members of SUMC:   Mary & Riley Lynch. We haven’t been able to offer the scholarship for a few years but are able to do so again. If you are interested or want more information, please contact Pastor Doug in the church office. Application deadline is July 15th, 2019.   A decision will be made at that time so there can be no applications accepted after that date.

Creation Care Information

The Creation Care team would like to thank all of SUMC as a part of the team by continuing to recycle at SUMC.  We are always wanting our church to love God's creation and respect it by being Earth conscious.   The Indy Green Congregations newsletter for January can be found at:    greencong1@gmail.com    Check out all the opportunities available on this site.  EX:   They are offering workshops on how to work your soil up for the Spring (which I hope comes soon) and other opportunities.  Their next meeting is February on the third Thursday.
