CREATION CARE TEAM NEWS


The Creation Care Team is grateful for the number of people who have shifted to re-usable cups rather than paper cups.  Thanks to all for your efforts to save our planet from all our trash.

We have noticed some concern and confusion about the disposal of recyclable items and trash items.  Please be sure that you are placing your items in the correct containers.  We have labeled each container and hope this is helpful.  If you have questions, please ask one of the Team members.  We will be identified by our Creation Care Team buttons during the month of September.

The Creation Care team would like to thank all of SUMC as a part of the team by continuing to recycle at SUMC.  We are always wanting our church to love God's creation and respect it by being Earth conscious.   The Indy Green Congregations newsletter for January can be found at:    greencong1@gmail.com    Check out all the opportunities available on this site.  EX:   They are offering workshops on how to work your soil up for the Spring (which I hope comes soon) and other opportunities.  Their next meeting is February on the third Thursday.

ATTENTION HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS

You may or may not know that in the past, Southport United Methodist Church has been able to offer a small scholarship to assist with college expenses.   The scholarship was made possible by some past members of SUMC:   Mary & Riley Lynch. We haven’t been able to offer the scholarship for a few years but are able to do so again. If you are interested or want more information, please contact Pastor Doug in the church office. Application deadline is July 15th, 2019.   A decision will be made at that time so there can be no applications accepted after that date.
