May Financial Update

Stewardship…  When I google synonyms for stewardship a big list comes up including administration, control, direction, governance, handling, and management .  But the one that caught my eye the most was care.  Stewardship certainly is all of those other things too, but when you boil it down stewardship is caring.  We must care for each other, care for the earth, and care for the resources that have been entrusted to us.
I witnessed a great example of caring at our Maundy Thursday service.  It was a great service.  Three tables were set up front and we experienced communion in a different way than normal as we took turns sitting around these tables.  A way that made us focus on each other and how we are a family in Christ.  We cared for each other as we sat around the tables and served each other the elements.  But, that is not the caring I am referring to.  A young lady had two babies, I mean really little babies.  So, she chose to stay seated when it was her turn instead of going forward.  A couple of people noticed this (Ok, a lot of people) and it wasn’t, but a few seconds and both of those babies where in the arms of others, with plenty of back up nearby.  I am pretty sure I saw one lady hurdle a chair to come and care for one of these babies while the mother went to take communion.  That is caring, that is coming together as a family to take care of a need.
Caring is also making people comfortable, and what keeps people comfortable better than a good heating and air conditioning system?  OK, bad transition, but we do have a need coming up, a need to replace the heating and cooling system for the worship center and office areas.  Check out the letter from Phil and the leadership team for more information about this.  Prayerfully consider giving to the fund to help with this project, and as you do remember the story above.  And remember that giving for this will help make our worship center a place where more of these stories can be made, a place where we can care for each other, and a place where we can get filled up by the blessings of Christ.
