ONLY ONE WEEK TO GO!

Remember, Thursday 9/5 and Sunday 9/8 are times to rekindle your JOY!
Worship services will feature many things to help us rekindle our JOY!
The Chancel Choir returns after the summer off.  As a congregation, we will sing JOY TO THE WORLD as the closing hymn.  (Yes – in September!  Why?  Come and see.)
Children will participate during the 9:45 and 11:15 worship services to make a JOYFUL noise unto the Lord.
Communion is always a time to feel JOYFUL in what Jesus Christ has done for each of us.
Fellowship meals and sharing refreshments are a good time to share JOY with guests as well as our church family.

We are nearing the end of the current sermon series:  A Church Heaven Applauds.  Our  children from Children’s Church and Imagination Station have been drawing pictures showing what would make God smile.  Come browse the art gallery and see how our children show what brings God JOY.

Finally, hear God’s Word proclaimed through the message:  A Church Heaven Applauds is a Church That Takes Risks.  The church takes risks when we sow seed abundantly, and it produces a harvest of thirty, sixty and a hundred times what was sown.

And, that is JOY!

Dear Friends,            I am excited about the many things that are happening at Southport UMC this month.   There are many things going on at Southport UMC as we continue in ministry to the Southside of Indianapolis, but I would like to highlight a few opportunities, as well as share some information about changes that are coming this month. First of all, because of storm damage we are getting a new roof. This work will begin after September 8 and will take around a week to complete (weather permitting). ATTENTION HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS

You may or may not know that in the past, Southport United Methodist Church has been able to offer a small scholarship to assist with college expenses.   The scholarship was made possible by some past members of SUMC:   Mary & Riley Lynch. We haven’t been able to offer the scholarship for a few years but are able to do so again. If you are interested or want more information, please contact Pastor Doug in the church office. Application deadline is July 15th, 2019.   A decision will be made at that time so there can be no applications accepted after that date.
