Imagination Station News

In the 20+ years Imagination Station has been in existence, I.S. has always had an outstanding reputation in the community as a quality preschool and childcare ministry. We have numerous parents tell stories about how they love to bring their kids here.

But, we are going to take it up another notch.  In the state of Indiana, we have a preschool/childcare quality improvement and rating system called Paths to Quality.  Paths to Quality has four levels, from level 1 that deals with health and safety issues to level 4 that involves national    accreditation.  In between, the issues of curriculum and staff professional development are also covered. A preschool/childcare needs to meet certain requirements at each level in order to continue moving up through the levels of Paths to Quality.

The United Way of Indiana is partnering with preschool/childcare ministries, helping them begin the process of Paths to Quality.  Imagination Station is partnering with United Way, and they are providing a sizable grant to help us address health and safety issues related to level 1. I.S. does NOT have health & safety issues. But, to meet the standards and requirements for Paths to Quality, we have some changes to make nonetheless.

In the very near future, you will see some work happening in our classrooms related to this.

The good news is that when finished, Imagination Station will officially be on Paths to Quality and will officially be meeting all of the voluntary standards required for certification.  This is a tremendous step, in that governmental agencies that help parents find quality and affordable preschool/childcare facilities guide them to facilities that are on Paths to Quality.  Imagination Station will now be one of the facilities that will be designated as being on Paths to Quality.

The even better news is that through the grant from United Way, “sweat equity” provided by SUMC members and the small amount of cash that we are providing from Imagination Station, we are able to take this leap forward and still meet out vision of NOT ADDING TO DEBT! When the improvements are completed, the project will be completely paid for.

To hear more, please attend a town hall meeting Monday, October 7, 2013, at 7:00 p.m. in the Worship Center.
