Hunger Inc. Food Collection



The December Food Collection is coming soon.  In fact, the dates for collection are Wednesday, November 27, and Sunday, December 1.  We are requesting donations of canned pasta meals, spaghetti and meatballs, Mac and cheese, etc.  However all food items are welcome.  For November we delivered 180 pounds of food.

I recently was in a Bible Study that mentioned, “If we could see what breaks the heart of God, how would we respond?”  I have to tell you every time I deliver the food we collect for     Hunger, Inc., my heart breaks to see those empty shelves.  Call the church office to share your desire to help deliver food.  You also will see what God sees!

This is a list of the food items we will be collecting for 2014.
January —Jelly/Peanut Butter                  July—Peanut Butter/Jelly
February—Canned Fruit                        August—Cereal
March—Cans of Tuna                           September—Soups
April—Syrup/Pancake Mix                    October—Pork and Beans
May—Canned Vegetables                      November—Saltine Crackers/Beans for Soup
June—Spaghetti/Sauce                          December—Canned Pastas

Remember collection dates are also communion dates.  Thanks to all who donate each month.

Dear Friends,            I am excited about the many things that are happening at Southport UMC this month.   There are many things going on at Southport UMC as we continue in ministry to the Southside of Indianapolis, but I would like to highlight a few opportunities, as well as share some information about changes that are coming this month. ATTENTION HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS

You may or may not know that in the past, Southport United Methodist Church has been able to offer a small scholarship to assist with college expenses.   The scholarship was made possible by some past members of SUMC:   Mary & Riley Lynch. We haven’t been able to offer the scholarship for a few years but are able to do so again. If you are interested or want more information, please contact Pastor Doug in the church office. Application deadline is July 15th, 2019.   A decision will be made at that time so there can be no applications accepted after that date.
