God's Workers 2014



We are revamping God’s Workers this year.  We work the second and fourth Saturdays of each month.  Beginning this year, on the second Saturday our focus will be around the younger   generation serving.  We will meet at the church at 9:30 a.m. and work for 2 hours from 10:00 a.m. to noon.  This is open to 2 years old and up with children 2 years old to fourth grade requiring at least one parent or guardian to attend with them.  A parent or guardian is not required to attend with children over fifth grade.  Every child (fifth grade to adult) will need to fill out a permission form for the whole year in order to serve on the team.

There will be an informational meeting Saturday, March 8, 2014, at 8:00 a.m., lasting 60-90 minutes. This is also sign-up day.  Bring your child, complete the permission slip, and he or she will be ready to serve in the community in whatever tasks are needed.

We will start out small with projects: raking leaves, planting flowers, scraping and painting houses, visiting people, and building and repairing things.  

We will discover what your talents might be: baking cookies, or eating them, talking to people, etc.  Join our group and find out what God has in store for you.  If you have any questions contact Jerry Kidwell through the church office.

The fourth Saturday is also available for those who want to work longer hours.  We meet at the church at 7:30 a.m. (YES I SAID 7:30 A.M.).  We start working at 8:00 a.m. and finish at noon.  If you are interested in serving with the God’s Worker’s Team, let me know and you will be added to our God’s Workers E-mail.

ATTENTION HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS

You may or may not know that in the past, Southport United Methodist Church has been able to offer a small scholarship to assist with college expenses.   The scholarship was made possible by some past members of SUMC:   Mary & Riley Lynch. We haven’t been able to offer the scholarship for a few years but are able to do so again. If you are interested or want more information, please contact Pastor Doug in the church office. Application deadline is July 15th, 2019.   A decision will be made at that time so there can be no applications accepted after that date.
