Jubilee on the Verge - Community

There is a deep sense of bonding that comes from living and sharing the love of Jesus with  others. This kind of Community is much deeper than the giving and receiving of gifts. Community of this nature reaches the level of living and sharing life encircled by the love and grace of Jesus.

As we serve families from our community and grow to know their wishes and needs, our desire is to develop relationships that will continue long after Jubilee day. Please join us in praying that our Jubilee Families experience this sense of Community through our words and actions.

Your participation in providing toys, additional gift items, baking, or helping Jubilee Day is  appreciated. Toys and non-gift items are to be returned to church by Sunday, December 6.  If you are bringing refreshments for Jubilee Day, please place them in the church kitchen on    Friday, December 11, 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m. and marked for Jubilee.

STORIES TO CELEBRATE
There are always things to celebrate when God’s people serve others so that Jesus’ love is shared and absorbed.

A family in our congregation is modeling their love for each other and for others in a specific way. The parents have asked for a special Christmas gift from their adult children. The parents selected tags from the Jubilee boards. The tags are given to their adult children. Their children will purchase the items requested on the tags and then return them to church for the Jubilee families. What makes this a special gift?  The SUMC parents have requested no other gifts for themselves other than having their children experience Jesus’ love and sharing it with others.

One of our desires is to have continuing relationships with our Jubilee families so that we can share throughout the year Jesus’ love which is available to all. One of last year’s Jubilee families has remained connected with their SUMC host.  They have “check in” times and have even shared a few meals.  The Jubilee mother has been so appreciative of this continued relationship and she was ready to share her experience with others. This opened a door for her to be part of Jubilee this year, serving as a host to a new Jubilee family. She has been exceptional in carrying out all of a host’s responsibilities. She worked with her assigned Jubilee family determining clothing and toy needs. She will be at church on Jubilee Day to greet them, help them wrap, gather their Christmas gifts, and complete their Jubilee Day experience.  Her joy has been found in sharing her positive experience from last year and hosting a new family this year. As stated at the beginning of this article, there is a deep sense of bonding that results from living and sharing the love of Jesus with others and this kind of Community is much deeper than the giving and receiving of gifts.
