UNITING WITH THE CHURCH— Wednesday, July 20
Would you like to make Southport your church home? Pastor Mark shares the mission and     vision of Southport United Methodist Church, the difference between being a “member” and being a “Disciple,” and how each person is called to ministry. Please plan to attend the next “UNITING WITH THE CHURCH” session on Wednesday, July 20 at 7 p.m.  Child care is  provided by request. Call the church office,  784-9508, or indicate your desire to attend on your registration card.

COMMUNITY FESTIVAL AND MOVIE NIGHT—Friday, August 5
Save the date for this year’s Community Festival on the Homecroft Elementary campus Friday, August 5, starting at 6:30 p.m.  We will have a great opportunity to serve with our Homecroft partners in providing a free festival for the children and families in our neighborhood.  Food, games, bounce houses, door prizes, and of course surprises.  The evening will end with a    family movie and treats.  More information and how you can be involved can be found in the Gathering Place during July.  Most importantly, plan to attend the festival and enjoy meeting new friends. 

COMMUNITY BLOOD DRIVE—Sunday, August 7
Our next quarterly community Blood Drive is Sunday, August 7, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Gathering Place.  If you would like to schedule a time to give, registration begins July 21.  We welcome walkins on August 7, too.  Please invite family members, neighbors, co-workers, and friends to share in giving the gift of life.

Dear Friends,            I am excited about the many things that are happening at Southport UMC this month.   There are many things going on at Southport UMC as we continue in ministry to the Southside of Indianapolis, but I would like to highlight a few opportunities, as well as share some information about changes that are coming this month. First of all, because of storm damage we are getting a new roof. This work will begin after September 8 and will take around a week to complete (weather permitting). Secondly, we will begin signups for Journey Groups this month, and I encourage everyone to take this opportunity to grow in your faith through a small group. ATTENTION HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS

You may or may not know that in the past, Southport United Methodist Church has been able to offer a small scholarship to assist with college expenses.   The scholarship was made possible by some past members of SUMC:   Mary & Riley Lynch. We haven’t been able to offer the scholarship for a few years but are able to do so again. If you are interested or want more information, please contact Pastor Doug in the church office. Application deadline is July 15th, 2019.   A decision will be made at that time so there can be no applications accepted after that date.
