Pastor Doug has been bugging asking me for the payroll calendar for next year for months now.  Why?  Because he is a planner and he wants to be able to figure the Imagination Station budget monthly, and when we get payed can affect the monthly expenses.  You see, we get payed twice a month, so every now and then we get paid for three weeks instead of two, so he needs to know that to properly fill in his excel spread sheet.

It seems to me that planning is biblical.  The bible is sprinkled with figures that show they are planners; Moses, David, Nehemiah, even Jesus.  Proverbs has plenty of references to planning in it too.  However, it seems in your planning you must leave room for one thing.  That is room for God’s will.

Proverbs 16:3: Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed.
This year is now 75% over.  So, it’s time to assess how we have done so far this year and plan for next year.  So, I want to remind you that you can see your giving history online by logging into the church online.  Not sure how to?  Or just don’t go online?  No problem, contact the church office and we can help you either way (ph: (317) 784-9508 or emailoffice@sumc.org).

Also, want to know about giving in different ways?  Online giving and automated giving are available just give us a call or send us an email if you are interested.

Also, we are looking into ways to provide resources to help you plan your giving.  Keep your eyes open for seminars in the near future.

I invite you to have a plan for your giving, and remember to leave room for Jesus to guide you.

ATTENTION HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS

You may or may not know that in the past, Southport United Methodist Church has been able to offer a small scholarship to assist with college expenses.   The scholarship was made possible by some past members of SUMC:   Mary & Riley Lynch. We haven’t been able to offer the scholarship for a few years but are able to do so again. If you are interested or want more information, please contact Pastor Doug in the church office. Application deadline is July 15th, 2019.   A decision will be made at that time so there can be no applications accepted after that date.
