United Methodist Women are hosting a WORLD THANK OFFERING PROGRAM October 16th at 6:30 in the Gathering Place.  At this short program, we discuss how we can help the world through our collections.   In the past we have collected money representing the pairs of shoes we have (25 cents each pair), earrings (10 cents each pair) and windows in our house (25 cents per window).  This year we are collecting 10 cents for each necklace we have.  (Maybe time to clean out the supply?)
United Methodist Women (UMW) has many programs to support women and children around the world as well as in Indianapolis.  One of the recipients of this World Thank Offering in Indianapolis is the Lucille Raines Residence downtown, located at 947 N. Pennsylvania St.  Phone number is 317-636-3328 for more information and to schedule a tour.   At this time this residence supports men and women actively engaged in rebuilding their lives from substance abuse.  They all share in learning to function independently and as whole persons in life.  Many are finding Christ to be the source of successful recovery.  Rent received from those living at Lucille Raines Residence provides approximately half the cost of the program. UMW in Indiana provides monthly support to help with the costs.   At the present, after more than 40 years in service, the building is requiring major repairs and donations are much needed.
All Circles will meet October 16 at 6:30 in the Gathering Place for the World Thank Offering Program.  Come join us one and all and enjoy a light snack after the program.

Dear Friends,            I am excited about the many things that are happening at Southport UMC this month.   There are many things going on at Southport UMC as we continue in ministry to the Southside of Indianapolis, but I would like to highlight a few opportunities, as well as share some information about changes that are coming this month. First of all, because of storm damage we are getting a new roof. This work will begin after September 8 and will take around a week to complete (weather permitting). ATTENTION HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS

You may or may not know that in the past, Southport United Methodist Church has been able to offer a small scholarship to assist with college expenses.   The scholarship was made possible by some past members of SUMC:   Mary & Riley Lynch. We haven’t been able to offer the scholarship for a few years but are able to do so again. If you are interested or want more information, please contact Pastor Doug in the church office. Application deadline is July 15th, 2019.   A decision will be made at that time so there can be no applications accepted after that date.
