BABY CUDDLER

Cuddle or Snuggle and show Love to the Babies who are at church on Sundays.  This isn’t a job or task. It is a true Gift to both Baby and You. Hurry and contact the church office for more information or email Allyson@sumc.org


JUBILEE CHRISTMAS

A busy season and Jubilee Christmas is one way to make a difference in the lives of families from our community who struggle for many reasons. Because of your generosity several Homecroft Elementary families will experience a brighter holiday celebration. We provide toys and gifts and clothing needs for the children and youth. We add personal care items, food staples and gift cards for the family. This is all very well received and appreciated. Always our goal is to connect with the Jubilee families sharing Jesus’ love for all no matter what their situation may be. Here are some ways that you can participate in preparing for Jubilee.

SHOPPING CREW
Shop at Burlington Saturday, December 1, 7:30am to 9:00am
Assist adult family members and Hosts in making selections for the children

SET UP CREW
Helping hands Friday, December 7 between 9:30am to 12:00pm to organize and set up for Jubilee Day

JUBILEE DAY CREW
Helping hands on Jubilee Day, December 8, 9:30am
Opportunities: greet guests, refreshment team, wrap gifts, wherever needed
Assist with clean up, starts around 12:00pm

REFRESHMENT TEAM
Provide refreshments for Jubilee Day to be dropped off Friday, December 7
Suggestions will be available and may include: cookies, donut holes, fresh fruit, etc.
Assist in the kitchen as needed

Dear Friends,            I am excited about the many things that are happening at Southport UMC this month.   There are many things going on at Southport UMC as we continue in ministry to the Southside of Indianapolis, but I would like to highlight a few opportunities, as well as share some information about changes that are coming this month. First of all, because of storm damage we are getting a new roof. This work will begin after September 8 and will take around a week to complete (weather permitting). Secondly, we will begin signups for Journey Groups this month, and I encourage everyone to take this opportunity to grow in your faith through a small group. ATTENTION HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS

You may or may not know that in the past, Southport United Methodist Church has been able to offer a small scholarship to assist with college expenses.   The scholarship was made possible by some past members of SUMC:   Mary & Riley Lynch. We haven’t been able to offer the scholarship for a few years but are able to do so again. If you are interested or want more information, please contact Pastor Doug in the church office. Application deadline is July 15th, 2019.   A decision will be made at that time so there can be no applications accepted after that date.
