The month of March starts out in grand style.
The Rebekah Circle will be hosting the new Director of Fletcher Place, Melissa Drew at their monthly meeting on the second Tuesday.  That will be on March 12th in the Gathering Area at SUMC starting at 1:00 p.m.   Come join the group for fun, information, and food.
The Leah Circle starts their new 2019 Year on Monday, March 18th at China Garden Restaurant by the church at 6:00 p.m.   We will discuss the UMW missions and purpose of UMW and have a pledge service (come find out what that means).  All are welcome to come and join the group.  Please RSVP to the church so we can have a table ready.  
  
Other events to remember for future dates:

 ***** April 27th the Hearts In Service (HIS) group of ladies will be at SUMC to share their program called "SERVE with a heart like JESUS"   There will be talks, skits, music, and fun.  A lite lunch will be served.  NO CHARGE but a love offering will be accepted.  Please RSVP (317-784-9508) to let us know if you are coming and if you need child care by April 5th.  Our own Margaret Trammell is a member of this group.  Don't miss the fun!!!!

**** Church Women United May Friendship Day.   Friday, May 3, 2019 from 11- 1. SUMC will host and provide a luncheon.   The luncheon is served about 12 p.m.

You may or may not know that in the past, Southport United Methodist Church has been able to offer a small scholarship to assist with college expenses.   The scholarship was made possible by some past members of SUMC:   Mary & Riley Lynch. We haven’t been able to offer the scholarship for a few years but are able to do so again. If you are interested or want more information, please contact Pastor Doug in the church office. Application deadline is July 15th, 2019.   A decision will be made at that time so there can be no applications accepted after that date.

A Letter from Pastor Chris

Dear Friends,            I am excited about the many things that are happening at Southport UMC this month.   There are many things going on at Southport UMC as we continue in ministry to the Southside of Indianapolis, but I would like to highlight a few opportunities, as well as share some information about changes that are coming this month. First of all, because of storm damage we are getting a new roof. This work will begin after September 8 and will take around a week to complete (weather permitting). Secondly, we will begin signups for Journey Groups this month, and I encourage everyone to take this opportunity to grow in your faith through a small group. Finally, at the end of this month we have a great opportunity to share with our neighbors through the Community Fall Festival.   Over the last couple of months we have been learning in worship that we need to share our faith story, and we can only do this through building relationships.
