April Circle Meetings:
Rebekah Circle is the second Tuesday, April 9th at 1:00pm at the church in the Gathering Place.
Leah Circle is the third Monday, April 15th at 6:30pm in the church Kitchen.  We will be giving the kitchen a good cleaning. Bring some gloves, rags, and cleaning supplies.

April 27th:  Hearts in Service Program.  Time: 9:00am-4:00pm   Place: at Southport UMC    Lunch: provided    Cost: FREE    RSVP the church: 317-784-9508   Reservations are needed for Child care by April, 13.
Church Women United (CWU) is a racially, culturally, theologically inclusive Christian women's movement celebrating unity in diversity and working for a world of peace and justice.  
On Friday, May 3, 2019 we will be having our May Friendship Day Celebration at Southport United Methodist Church.  The time for the program is 11:00 am followed by a luncheon at 12:00 pm. Lunch cost is $7.00.   

The overall theme for the 2019 celebration is "THE TIME IS NOW!" based on John 4:23a (CEB) - "But the time is coming - and is here!'  May Friendship Day focuses on uniting us in the Spirit to do God's work, despite our differences, "Agree to Differ".  The scripture for the May Friendship Day celebration is Ephesians 4:2-3 (NLT)  "Always be humble and gentle.  Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other's faults because of your love.  Make every effort to keep yourselves united in the Spirit, binding yourselves together with peace."

You may or may not know that in the past, Southport United Methodist Church has been able to offer a small scholarship to assist with college expenses.   The scholarship was made possible by some past members of SUMC:   Mary & Riley Lynch. We haven’t been able to offer the scholarship for a few years but are able to do so again. If you are interested or want more information, please contact Pastor Doug in the church office. Application deadline is July 15th, 2019.   A decision will be made at that time so there can be no applications accepted after that date.

A Letter from Pastor Chris

Dear Friends,            I am excited about the many things that are happening at Southport UMC this month.   There are many things going on at Southport UMC as we continue in ministry to the Southside of Indianapolis, but I would like to highlight a few opportunities, as well as share some information about changes that are coming this month. First of all, because of storm damage we are getting a new roof. This work will begin after September 8 and will take around a week to complete (weather permitting). Secondly, we will begin signups for Journey Groups this month, and I encourage everyone to take this opportunity to grow in your faith through a small group. Finally, at the end of this month we have a great opportunity to share with our neighbors through the Community Fall Festival.   Over the last couple of months we have been learning in worship that we need to share our faith story, and we can only do this through building relationships.
