21,000 Evangelicals Petition For 100 Percent Renewable Energy In Indiana

The Creation Care Team wants you to know:
1. Tox Drop site in Perry Township is at 4925 S. Shelby St. and is open from 9-2 p.m. on the second Saturday of each month.
2. More sites available for recycling items are located at: indy.gov Then follow the steps below to get to the right tabs:
Services (see all at the bottom of the page and click on the tab)
Topics (click on at the top of the page)----Trash and Recycling----(click on the square labeled) Household Hazardous Waste Drop Off sites with times and dates.
3. The following Walgreen stores take Meds: 3455 Mann Rd., 1808 Albany St. (Beech Grove), 6545 E. Southport Rd., 1290 State Rd. 135,  700 US Highway 31 (Greenwood)
4. Most CVS stores have Meds Disposal Locations
5.  Did you know our church collects plastic caps off of all bottles (they get made into benches)?  Bring them in to the Kitchen by the microwave. 
6. Note the information about BEST BUY.  They will take computers and phones and tablets as TECH items.  There is a possibility that you could get a gift card from them for your recycled item.
7. STAPLES recycles unwanted technology at no cost.  Check out their website www.staples.com

Dear Friends,            I am excited about the many things that are happening at Southport UMC this month.   There are many things going on at Southport UMC as we continue in ministry to the Southside of Indianapolis, but I would like to highlight a few opportunities, as well as share some information about changes that are coming this month. First of all, because of storm damage we are getting a new roof. This work will begin after September 8 and will take around a week to complete (weather permitting). ATTENTION HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS

You may or may not know that in the past, Southport United Methodist Church has been able to offer a small scholarship to assist with college expenses.   The scholarship was made possible by some past members of SUMC:   Mary & Riley Lynch. We haven’t been able to offer the scholarship for a few years but are able to do so again. If you are interested or want more information, please contact Pastor Doug in the church office. Application deadline is July 15th, 2019.   A decision will be made at that time so there can be no applications accepted after that date.
