THE EVENT “FORMERLY KNOWN AS” COMMUNITY FALL FESTIVAL



If you attended one of the town hall meetings in April, you know that we have a new direction for the event “formerly known as” Community Fall Festival.  CFF as it was known was about providing a “party for Jesus” for our community so that we could share the love and grace of God through Jesus Christ to those who attend.

Homecroft Elementary, one of our outreach ministries, also has a goal of impacting the  community.  Therefore, we have similar goals.  So, we decided to partner together.  They used to have an outdoor movie night.  So we are bringing both community events together to form Community Festival & Movie Night.  With similar goals, both Homecroft Elementary and Southport Church hope that through this CF&MN (as it will now most likely be called in short form) we can truly be agents of change to transform the community through connections and relationships that occur as a result.

CF&MN is scheduled for Friday evening, August 5, 2016.  Be watching and listening for more information about this exciting new way that we can be in mission not only “for” or “to” the community, but WITH the community.

Dear Friends,            I am excited about the many things that are happening at Southport UMC this month.   There are many things going on at Southport UMC as we continue in ministry to the Southside of Indianapolis, but I would like to highlight a few opportunities, as well as share some information about changes that are coming this month. First of all, because of storm damage we are getting a new roof. This work will begin after September 8 and will take around a week to complete (weather permitting). Secondly, we will begin signups for Journey Groups this month, and I encourage everyone to take this opportunity to grow in your faith through a small group. ATTENTION HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS

You may or may not know that in the past, Southport United Methodist Church has been able to offer a small scholarship to assist with college expenses.   The scholarship was made possible by some past members of SUMC:   Mary & Riley Lynch. We haven’t been able to offer the scholarship for a few years but are able to do so again. If you are interested or want more information, please contact Pastor Doug in the church office. Application deadline is July 15th, 2019.   A decision will be made at that time so there can be no applications accepted after that date.
